Suki Waterhouse Recalls Meeting Robert Pattinson, Says They “Really Planned” Pregnancy

Actress and singer Suki Waterhouse is looking back on her meet-cute moment with Robert Pattinson as they recently welcomed a baby girl.

In a cover interview for British Vogue ‘s August issue, Waterhouse, posing with her and Pattinson’s daughter, reflected on their six-year relationship and why the pregnancy wasn’t a shock.

“I was sure that I’d met him a long time ago, but he didn’t think that we had,” Waterhouse said. The Daisy Jones & The Six star recalled meeting Pattinson at a game night in L.A. “It was very, very intense,” she said. “There were lots of ‘big’ characters, real heavy hitters.” She revealed that guests included Al Pacino, Javier Bardem and Penélope Cruz. “And you know, everyone was really acting ,” she said.

“I think we both sort of have the same slight uncomfortable-ness” and “started giggling at the absurdity of the whole thing,” she said, also revealing that they both “got told off. There was a director that separated us because we were laughing too much.”

It would be “six or seven months” until they ran into each other again, but Waterhouse said that night “had percolated” something. “I think Rob’s quite funny, I light up when I’m around him,” she said, noting that living in L.A. “definitely became a lot more fun when I met him.”

Six years later, the couple have welcomed a baby girl and Waterhouse assured that the pregnancy wasn’t a shock to them because they “really planned it.” She said, “One day we looked at each other and said, ‘Well, this is as ready as we’re going to be.'”

Waterhouse described early motherhood as “shocking” but that she found solace in Pattinson: “He was there with me and like all dads, he was really nervous,” she recalled, “but for someone who’s quite an anxious person, he’s been very calm.” Waterhouse described Pattinson as “the dad I could have hoped for. I mean, a dad and his daughter? It’s an actual love story,” she said.

Last year, Waterhouse shared the news of her pregnancy during her performance at the Corona Capital Festival in Mexico. “I’m extra sparkly today because I thought it might distract you from something else that’s going on,” she said , pointing at her belly before revealing a baby bump. “I’m not sure if it’s working.”

Waterhouse and Pattinson made their red carpet debut at the Dior Men’s Fall 2023 show in Giza, Egypt, in December 2022. They also attended the 2023 Met Gala together.

This is Waterhouse and Pattinson’s first child.
