Sheriff David Lucero announced in a news release Monday that the evacuation put in place on June 24 would be lifted “due to the current fire conditions and the progress made on the fire.” Residents of Middle Creek Canyon Road are now on pre-evacuation status. No injuries have been reported as a result of the lightning-caused fire and no properties have been reported damaged or destroyed. "Additional resources continue to arrive to support the next phases of the strategic plan," fire officials stated in Tuesday's update. "Firefighters continue to evaluate conditions to ensure strategic firing operations will; burn with low intensity to reduce the ground fuels, protect the integrity of the Middle Creek watershed and other key values at risk, and ensure the fire is within effective containment lines." <nbtemplate data-id="AdPlaceholder" data-content="JTdCJTdE"></nbtemplate><h2 class="presto-h2 wp-block-heading"> Firefighting operation is 'moving into a transition point' </h2> Matt Holte, operations section chief trainee for the Oak Ridge Fire, said in an <a href="https://fb.watch/t3RIqpQZF3/" rel="nofollow"> online briefing Tuesday morning </a> that “a lot of good work has been done,” and firefighters are “kind of moving into a transition point on this fire." "We’ve got all of our lines prepped and ready to go," he said. Holte said that in the coming days, firefighting teams will begin an aerial ignition “to start bringing this fire down to our lines where we can fight it safely.” An aerial ignition entails&nbsp;firefighters igniting fuels by dropping incendiary devices or materials from aircraft. “In the next couple of days, we’re going to start drying out today, and probably by Thursday we’re going to be looking at having the conditions where we can start this aerial ignition using drones to bring it down very slowly, very controlled, to get the appropriate fire effects that we want to mitigate the long-term risk to the watersheds and the communities,” Holte said. <nbtemplate data-id="AdPlaceholder" data-content="JTdCJTdE"></nbtemplate><img src="https://img.particlenews.com/image.php?type=thumbnail_580x000&amp;url=3TOHkT_0uBzIFJ800" alt="https://img.particlenews.com/image.php?url=3TOHkT_0uBzIFJ800" width="2048" height="946" > He said that operations officials held a community meeting with area homeowners and residents Monday evening in which they discussed how the firefighting plan would expand Tuesday and how by Thursday, the fire map would look “vastly different.” “We’re adding three more divisions, we’re adding a couple of branches to make it easier to manage both sides of the fire, all in advance of this burn operation that we’re planning,” he said. <nbtemplate data-id="AdPlaceholder" data-content="JTdCJTdE"></nbtemplate> “We’re expecting an increase in acreage, we’re anticipating between 6,500 and 7,000 acres by when it’s done. We’re just bringing in a lot of resources so you’re going to see a lot more people around, they’re going to be out scouting today and tomorrow but tomorrow things are going to look vastly different when we’re doing this update.” The Oak Ridge Fire was first reported on June 22 and has been burning about 3 miles northwest of Beulah. The Cañon City, Florence, Westcliffe, Wetmore, Pueblo, and Colorado City areas were all expected to have “good” air quality Tuesday.
