Lionel Messi is gearing up to be the star attraction as he prepares to represent the MLS All-Stars, surrounded by a host of star players from rival teams upon his return from Copa America .

The legendary winger's current focus is on defending Argentina's title in the continental tournament, leading his country towards another international victory. Despite not scoring in the competition so far, the 37 year old has been instrumental in Argentina's first two group games, guiding them to consecutive victories.

Messi was given a rest for their final Group A match, during which his teammates triumphed over Peru. Now, they face Ecuador in the quarter-finals. It's almost guaranteed that Argentina's key player will be back in the starting lineup for the knockout stages, with the team just three matches away from retaining their 2021 trophy.

With the Copa America final scheduled for July 15, Messi could have a nine-day break before his next game if Argentina makes it to the Miami finale . Assuming he doesn't play for Inter Miami on July 18 and 21, his next appearance could be in the MLS All-Star Game on July 24.

Messi is one of four players from Vice City selected for the game, alongside Luis Suarez , Jordi Alba, and Sergio Busquets. The match will pit top MLS stars against their Liga MX counterparts from Mexico at Lower.com Field in Columbus, Ohio.

The All-Star Game lineup is a star-studded affair with 30 top-tier players, handpicked through a combo of fan votes, player input, and media selections. Columbus Crew's very own Wilfried Nancy and MLS commissioner Don Garber have also thrown in their two cents for the final squad.
