    Santa Rosa County Library System awarded $100,000 for digital literacy program

    SANTA ROSA COUNTY, Fla. ( WKRG ) — The Florida Department of Economic Opportunity awarded the Santa Rosa County Library System with a $100,000 grant that will be used for a digital literacy program.

    The Florida DEO Office of Broadband under the Digital Connectivity Program’s grant will be used for the library system to purchase laptops and build a mobile computer lab, according to a press release.

    To encourage the use of this new program the County Library will offer a digital literacy program to increase its outreach and teach the public more about being digitally literate.

    The classes offered will include:

    • A.I. basics
    • Basic computer use: MS Office, Google Tools, working with apps, and others.
    • Basic internet use
    • Cybersecurity basics
    • Cybersecurity for senior citizens
    • Email and video conferencing basics
    • File management and backup basics
    • Get started with Telehealth
    • How to find a job using the internet
    • How to use an e-reader and e-books
    • Internet safety for all ages
    • Mobile devices basics (Android and Apple)

    Officials say the Digital Connectivity Program will not only help the library but also service providers, communities, and local residents.
