The "Haunted Mansion" ride is one of Disney's all-time classic rides, up there with Pirates of the Caribbean, Space Mountain, and the Tower of Terror. It strikes a perfect whimsical balance between spooky and silly to charm campy horror lovers, scaredy cats, and everyone in between. Besides, if you've never cooled off on the Haunted Mansion ride after hours of walking through Magic Kingdom on a hot day, have you ever truly lived the Disney World experience?
Most Haunted Mansion fans need to schlep it to a Disney park and pay for pricey passes just to get their ghostly fix. But Giavanna Paradiso doesn't have to spend a dime to visit the Haunted Mansion; all she has to do is climb up to her mom's attic.
The only key piece that's missing is the Doom Buggies (and to be fair, most contractors can't legally build theme park ride tracks in people's attics), but otherwise, the Haunted Mansion-inspired decor is on point! It's like a condensed, attic-sized version of the Mansion, and Giavanna ( @commentsectionforlife on TikTok) loves popping in for a visit when she wants to "lift her spirits."
Anything Haunted Mansion-themed is always popular among Disney fans, and this spooky secret hideaway was an instant hit with Giavanna's followers.
"How does it feel to be living my dream," admired @dreambiginasmallworld.
"WHAT? Haunted Mansion is my favorite thing in the world, this is amazing," another user exclaimed.
"I'd be in that attic all the time! Love this," praised @yourfaveagteacher. Well, yeah, I'm sure this attic's 999 happy haunts would be thrilled to have you there all the time! After all, I hear there's room for a thousand...
Disneybounding Decor
With this eerie attic, Giavanna's mom essentially did the home decor version of Disneybounding (the practice of wearing outfits similar to certain Disney characters without going full-on cosplay mode). It's not a one-to-one recreation of the Haunted Mansion's interior, but any serious Disney fan will recognize all the motifs and references instantly!
The eerie vintage photographs call to mind the spooky stretching portraits from the Mansion's pre-ride art gallery. A lovingly-preserved antique wedding dress calls to mind the murderous Black Widow Bride. I even glimpsed a few more subtle blink-and-you'll-miss-it details, like a white plaster bust- a obvious callback to the Grim Grinning Singing Busts that provide musical accompaniment for the Mansion's ghoulish guests. There was a lot of thought and time put into this room, and I could easily see hardcore Haunted Mansion fans whittling away an afternoon just exploring all the little details.
For me, this video ends on a cliffhanger. Giavanna calls their home "our Disney house," implying that the Haunted Mansion attic is just one small part of a home full of Disney-inspired decor and themed rooms yet to be revealed. Whenever Giavanna finally drops that full Disney home tour, I'll be waiting!
