Weddings are known for being emotional events. Even people who aren't particularly close to the couple exchanging vows can end up teary-eyed before the ceremony is over. And while most of us don't necessarily think of kids as getting verklempt in these situations, it's definitely been known to happen!

In a video posted on June 28, a little boy is giving a speech at a wedding with all the maturity of someone three times his age — and the bride and groom are having an understandably tough time holding it together!

What a sweet boy! This video was posted by @juniorfilms4 , a wedding videographer based in California, and it's not clear what the boy's relationship is to the bride and groom. But whether he's their son or nephew or cousin or friend, it's obvious that the couple is very special to him! Commenters were highly impressed by his eloquence.

"This kid has been here before," wrote Marie.

"The emotional intelligence but ALSO the public speaking skills are insane!!!" wrote Lexi.

"He sounds like he has lived 100 years," wrote Michele.

"He's been saying wedding speeches for 25 years now," wrote Sharndre_Sings.

"He's 100% emotionally smarter than me," wrote Xtajxs.

He's definitely an old soul — and his emotional intelligence will serve him well as he navigates relationships and experiences in the years to come.

How Can You Help to Improve Your Child's Emotional Intelligence?

As Psychology Today reported, " emotional intelligence appears to be a key predictor of children's ability to make suitable peer relationships, get along at home, develop a well-balanced outlook on life, and to reach their academic potential at school."

One way you can help your child to develop emotional intelligence is to teach them how to realize when they're stressed out, and how that makes them feel.

"The first step to reducing stress is recognizing what stress feels like. Share how your body feels when you are under stress and ask your child or teen what goes on for them. You could also share the quote by Sir William Osler: 'Our bodies weep the tears our eyes refuse to shed.' You could ask questions such as, 'How does your body feel when you’re stressed? Are your muscles or stomach tight or sore? Are your hands clenched? Is your breath shallow?' Teach your child how being aware of your physical response to stress will help regulate tension when it occurs."

Once your child is able to identify these feelings, you can help them to find "stress-busting techniques."

"The best way to reduce stress quickly is by engaging one or more of your senses: sight, sound, smell, taste, and touch. Each person responds differently to sensory input, so you need to find things that are soothing and/or energizing to you. For example, if your child is visual person he can relieve stress by surrounding himself with uplifting images. If he responds more to sound, you may find a wind chime, a favorite piece of music, or the sound of a water fountain helps to quickly reduce his stress levels."

These skills could truly change the course of a child's life (and maybe yours, too!).
