Daybreak Games is a publisher known for its prowess in the MMO gaming space, and they’ve announced the acquisition of Singularity 6, the creators of the cozy simulator Palia .

Singularity 6 has faced some hardships this year, with layoffs hitting the developer in May due to a “tough economic period.” But today, Daybreak Games has announced the new acquisition of Singularity 6—and with it, the popular cozy simulator title Palia —in a move that bolsters Daybreak’s library. In the official announcement, Daybreak CEO Ji Ham says, “We are thrilled to welcome Singularity 6 to Daybreak Games.”

Daybreak Games’ CEO Ham continues, “S6 is an excellent addition to our development studios, renowned for their success in creating large-scale online games and content. Their debut title, Palia , is a fantastic addition to our online portfolio. We eagerly anticipate collaborating with the S6 team to make Palia the best online experience possible across all major gaming platforms and to help continue expand their community of players for years to come.” The acquisition is a welcome move, considering the Daybreak track record of uplifting MMOs like Everquest and Everquest 2, their ability to build thriving communities, and the recent financial troubles Singularity 6 has faced.

Singularity 6 CEO Anthony Leung echoes the sentiment: “Our team is ecstatic to join the Daybreak Games family. From day one, we have always wanted to forge alternate worlds that help deepen players’ lives. We believe we are on the path to that with Palia and are ever grateful for the initial player reception and support. But we ultimately want to get Palia into the hands of every gamer that wants to play it, and we believe that we can best do so by partnering up with Daybreak,” he said regarding the acquisition.

Palia has been well-received since its release. Daybreak claims over four million people have at least “tried” Palia since launch, with 100,000 players actively enjoying the game daily. While those are impressive numbers, Daybreak claims their mission is to release Palia across all major platforms by the time completed version 1.0 reaches the market.
