Arby's Revives Discontinued Menu Item—and Fans Say It's 'Just as Good as I Remember'

Fans of Arby's' previously discontinued Potato Cakes have much to be excited about these days, as the food chain announced that it was bringing back the fan-favorite item for a limited time at participating locations.

The food brand announced the exciting revival with a unique commercial starring actor Kyle MacLachlan , whom people might recognize from hits like Twin Peaks and the original Dune film.

In the commercial shared to Arby's social media, MacLachlan (as himself), demands they bring back potato cakes. While the worker claims, "It's over," MacLachlan then sees a bright light in the woods that he follows, finding the potato cakes buried in the ground as a voice announces their return.

Text at the end of the clip declares, "Every vocal Arby's Potato Cake lover on the internet manifested this."

Potato Cakes, described as "shredded potato fried to a crispy golden brown," will be served in two, three and four pieces, per the online menu listing .

“The glorious and mighty Potato Cake has returned,” Arby’s exclaimed, adding, “Rejoice and celebrate with The Order of Potato Cakes before they ascend and vanish.”

It's safe to say that fans of the menu item were thrilled to hear the news, with enthusiastic replies like, "YEARS OF WAITING AND IT FINALLY HAPPENED!!!!" and "Best thing I’ve read in years!!!!!"

"BEHOLD... And they're just as good as I remember!" another customer wrote, adding a photo of the item in question, on X .

One wrote, "Just in time for my birthday 🥳 month!!! Please do not take potato cakes away ever again!!... Everybody loves them!!!!!"

Others demanded Arby's make Potato Cakes a permanent fixture on the menu, such as fans who replied, "Now don't let them go!!!!" and "For good? They’re back for good, right?!?!?!?!?"

"This is genius, hilarious……and AWESOME to have the potato cakes back!!" wrote a lover of Potato Cakes who also appreciated the commercial.

Potato Cakes were originally discontinued in 2021 following the addition of other potato-based items like Crinkle and Curly Fries.

Arby's appears to be following in the footsteps of many other beloved fast food brands, as chains like McDonald's recently announced the return of fan-favorite items, with the McRib coming back for a limited time later this year.

Meanwhile, some places are stunning fans with their constant new offerings, with Taco Bell a major example. The food chain recently added Jalapeño Ranch Nacho Fries to the menu, while a few other well-liked additions from the last few months were Cheesy Street Chalupas and the Big Cheez-It Crunchwrap Supreme .
