    Dump truck overturns on state road

    WORTON — State and local emergency services responded to a motor vehicle crash on Lamb’s Meadow Road at approximately 1 p.m on June 26.

    Logan Quinn, Kent County chief of Emergency Medical Services said it was suspected that the dump truck lost control on the curve at state Route 298 and 566 and overturned.

    Miraculously, the driver wasn’t injured.

    Quinn confirmed that the single occupant — the driver, “self extricated with the assistance of Kent County Paramedics.”

    He said the driver was evaluated by emergency services, ultimately refusing care and transport.

    Kent County Sheriff Dennis Hickman noticed that as well, while assisting the Maryland State Police, the investigating agency.

    “I do not believe the driver was injured. I was watching on the body camera when the deputy and paramedic was there. The driver got himself out of the dump truck and seemed fine.”

    Responding to the accident was the Betterton Volunteer Fire Company. Deputy Chief Louis Mancuso exclaimed that they had to use a rotator, one of the biggest and heaviest tow trucks available, from Phillips Garage in Sudlersville to upright and transport the damaged truck.

    Galena Volunteer Fire Company Rescue Engine 3 also responded. Their crew assisted with mitigating a fuel and exhaust fluid leak according to a post on Facebook.

    Responding units were: Kennedyville VFC, Galena VFC — Rescue Engine, Betterton VFC — Rescue and Engine, Kent EMS — PM11 and EMS1, and EMS Chief Quinn.

    Police did not identify the owner of the truck.
