    Are Delaware's roads the best in the United States? Yes and no

    Are Delaware roads among the best in the United States?

    According to one survey, Delaware has the second-best roads in the country.

    Personal injury law firm John Foy & Associates looks at road fatalities, rural road conditions, urban road conditions, highway spending per mile, and highway spending per capita to decide which states have the country's best roads. Their results were a boon for the First State.

    Minnesota was first, according to the survey with Delaware finishing second. New Mexico had the worst roads.

    "Delaware secures a strong second-place finish, excelling across the board," the law firm said in a release. "The state boasts a remarkably high highway disbursement per mile of $270,120, coupled with a low fatality rate of 1.64 deaths per 100 million miles driven."

    How does Delaware fare in other studies?

    While Delaware was second in that study, the First State's roads aren't always considered among the best.

    According to U.S. News and World Report's study of the best states in the country, Delaware is in the middle of the pack for road quality, finishing 25 in road quality. The state also ranks 26th in infrastructure and 10th in transportation. In this survey, Alabama has the best roads.

    According to Consumer Affairs, Delaware ranks 31st in the country for having the worst roads. The state has 1.39 fatalities per 100 million miles driven. Two percent of rural roads are rough and 10% of urban roads are rough. In this survey, Minnesota has the best roads.

    According to Money Geek, Delaware has the eighth worst roads in the county. getting low scores in the most expensive state for driving and worst congestion. Crossing the border won't help much as New Jersey is ranked as having the worst roads in the county.
