Danny Trejo Mourns the Loss of His Adorable Tiny Chihuahua 'Trixie Wixie'

Actor Danny Trejo, who has starred in dozens of movies like the Machete series and the Spy Kids movies and a ton of other television and film roles recently shared some heartbreaking news on his Instagram account.

Trejo posted on Monday that his beloved teacup Chihuahua Trixie Wixie has passed away.

The actor, author, restaurant owner, and activist shared the sad message, "Hold your babies tight for me please. Today I lost my little Dixie Wixie."

It's always so sad when a dog passes, but this is especially sad because Trejo has always been a huge dog lover and advocate.

In March, K9 Magazine interviewed Trejo about his love of dogs and his volunteer work with them. Speaking to the outlet, they explained that their mission is to use this magazine first and foremost to help dog owners find great information , but also as a platform for my passion to reduce the number of homeless dogs euthanized every year.

Trejo responded, "Absolutely! These breeding houses all need to shut down, I love all dogs, but you have people who want a Shit Tzu-this and a Bichon-that, it’s ridiculous.

Man, they’re dogs! They’re our responsibility, we pulled them in. They were running around free and we domesticated them. We brought them into our fire, and we’re responsible for fixing this.

Every time I walk past a shelter, I know we’ve failed in our responsibility to protect dogs. Period."

Trejo then goes on to tell how he obtained his Pit Bull. The dog was tied to a tree with a note reading 'Give me a good home."

His advice for people wanting to adopt a dog is, "So, if you’re gonna get a dog, you need to make sure you know what you’re taking on. Do you have time for a dog? Do you have space for a dog? Do your neighbors care when your dog barks? Both my neighbors here have dogs that bark. They don’t care, and I play with my dogs all night!"
