When most people think 'heading down the river' in Colorado, generally a whitewater raft, kayak, inner tube, or stand-up paddleboard comes to mine. That said, there's a company headquartered in Western Colorado's town of Clifton that gives a whole new meaning to that phrase.

Jet Boat Colorado offers exhilarating jet boat tours on the Colorado River, during which a professional driver steers passengers in theater-style seats through the water at high speeds, performing spins, fishtails, and power slides along the way. Aside from the thrills, tours also offer an informative river experience that features canyon views and mountain scenery.

The boats are based on New Zealand designs, measuring 20 feet long and capable of holding up to 10 passengers. They're designed for high speeds and maneuverability, with a fuel-injected engine that generates 420 horsepower and 460 foot-pounds of torque. Plus, the boats don't use the traditional exposed propeller, allowing them to run in water that's only four inches deep while also being more eco-friendly.

Jet Boat Colorado offers a variety of tours, ranging from mixed-group tours to chartered options. Standard 'Adventure Tour' pricing starts at $99.

It's also worth noting that the tours are highly-rated on TripAdvisor , with five of five stars.

Find Jet Boat Colorado operations taking place near De Beque, about 25 minutes east of Grand Junction. They're open daily from mid-May through mid-September and year-round by appointment.
