COLUMBUS — The Ohio House of Representatives and the Ohio Senate, last week, passed Substitute House Bill 2, the state’s two-year construction budget for capital projects throughout the state. The Capital Budget will make historic investments in local community projects, announced State Rep. Bob Peterson (R-Sabina).

Peterson secured the following capital investment that will positively impact Pike County:

$750,000 to support the Pike Emergency Operations Backup Power Project$75,000 to renovate the exterior façade of the Pike Heritage Museum and upgrade the electrical system.

The Pike Emergency Operations Backup Power Project includes two generators, one at the Pike County Government Center and one at the Pike County Engineer’s Office.

“It’s much more in depth at the engineer’s office,” Commissioner Jeff Chattin said. “We’re blessed here with modern electric, modern breakers, modern everything. Down there it’s 1960s (electric), so although it’s not as big of a generator, there is much more work to be done in the building.”

“Energy reliability is important for the safety of families and businesses. I am proud to support long-term solutions to power services,” Peterson said.

“Additionally, the Pike Heritage Museum has been a cornerstone of the Waverly community since the mid-1800s. Restoring this space will allow more residents to enjoy the historic space for generations to come.”

In addition to these local investments, this legislation also includes statewide capital investments of:

$600 million for the School Building Program Assistance Fund;$400 million for the Public Works Commission Local Public Infrastructure and State Capital Improvement Program; and $397.6 million for higher education projects around the state.

Substitute House Bill 2 was signed into law by the governor.
