NCDIT awards broadband projects to Stanly County

The North Carolina Department of Information Technology’s (NCDIT) Division of Broadband and Digital Equity announced an additional $112 million in funding towards the Completing Access to Broadband (CAB) program.

This funding is applied to projects across the state to connect 25,903 households and businesses to high-speed internet. These projects will be funded by more than $61 million from the federal American Rescue Plan awarded by NCDIT, more than $25 million from counties and nearly $26 million from selected broadband providers.

A Completing Access to Broadband (CAB) project award has been granted to Stanly County with the aim to support internet infrastructure in underserved areas of the county.

The NCDIT evaluation committee provided contracts to Windstream North Carolina, LLC and Bellsouth Telecommunications, LLC (AT&T North Carolina). These projects will provide high-speed internet access to 1,013 locations (22% of the county’s 4,566 eligible locations).

The North Carolina General Assembly created the CAB program, which provides individual NC counties the opportunity to partner with NCDIT to fund broadband deployment projects in unserved areas of each county.
