    Liberty area schools lauded at Orlando conference

    PICKENS COUNTY — The School District of Pickens County recently announced its designation as an Innovative District at the distinguished 2024 Model Schools Conference. Hosted by the Center for Model Schools, this annual gathering celebrates excellence and innovation in education, spotlighting exemplary practices that serve to inspire and empower educators worldwide.

    Chosen from a distinguished array of institutions, officials said the School District of Pickens County (SDPC) has “showcased exceptional dedication to fostering student success and implementing innovative strategies to address the diverse needs of its learners. Through collaborative initiatives, visionary leadership, and an unwavering commitment to continuous improvement, the School District of Pickens County has become a shining example of excellence in the realm of education.”

    One of only 11 school districts selected nationwide, SDPC was recognized for the Liberty Area Schools’ PreK-12 career alignment plan in collaboration with the Pickens County Career and Technology Center. Administrators from Liberty Primary, Liberty Elementary, Liberty Middle, Liberty High, and the Pickens County Career and Technology Center were invited to present at the 2024 Model Schools Conference in Orlando, Fla., last week.

    “We were truly honored to be acknowledged as an Innovative District at the 2024 Model Schools Conference,” expressed Danny Merck, Superintendent of the School District of Pickens County. “This national recognition is a testament to our collective commitment to innovation and student success. It reflects the dedication and hard work of our educators, administrators, and community partners who continually strive to provide exceptional educational opportunities for every student in Pickens County.”

    This national recognition is an honor, allowing the School District of Pickens County to share its commitment to innovation and further its impact on educators from around the country, officials said.
