OSHTEMO TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Authorities say concrete work at a Kalamazoo County intersection was significantly damaged Monday night, which could delay the entire project.

It happened at Squires Drive and Drake Road, near Kalamazoo Central High School, where crews are working to construct a roundabout.

“A sad sight to see this morning!” the Road Commission of Kalamazoo County wrote Tuesday in a Facebook post. “Despite barricades and road closed signs, last night substantial damage was done to the concrete work on the Squires Drive and Drake Road roundabout project.”

The road commission says it will be expensive to repair the damage, and the whole project could be delayed, though the goal is still to have the roundabout finished by the time school is back in session.

“This situation also comes as a disappointment to the team members that worked hard to make this project look nice and operate well,” the road commission wrote.

If you see roads or construction projects being vandalized, the road commission urges you to file a police report.
