Liverpool has already saved $23.8m this summer with 3 contract decisions

The transfer window has truly sprung into action this week, as the turn of the month marked the end of contracts for players across the Premier League and Europe.

For Liverpool , this means bidding farewell to three players. It was previously announced in the summer that Thiago Alcantara and Joel Matip would be parting ways with the club at the end of their contracts.

Despite being offered a new deal at Anfield , goalkeeper Adrian also appears to be on his way out as he seeks more playing time elsewhere. However, the departure of these players does mean a financial boost for Liverpool, keeping in mind the Premier League's Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSRs).

Sportrac reports that Thiago's departure alone will free up £10.4 million ($13.2 million) over the year. The site states that last year, the midfielder was the third-highest paid player, trailing only Mo Salah and Virgil van Dijk , with a weekly salary of £200,000 ($253,000).

Matip leaving will free up an additional £5.2 million ($6.6 million), with the defender reportedly earning £100,000 ($126,700) per week. Adrian's exit will also save another £3.12 million ($4 million), given his reported weekly salary of £60,000 ($76,000).

In total, the departures of these three players will save Liverpool a sum of $23.8 million in the 2024/25 season. This extra cash could now be utilised to bolster the Reds' transfer budget for the current summer window.

Liverpool are set to back new head coach Arne Slot as he gears up for his first season in charge. The Dutchman is expected to make his mark on the squad ahead of the 2024/25 Premier League campaign.

The club's finances could also receive a boost with potential player sales in the pipeline. The departure of Caoimhin Kelleher would save Liverpool around £520,000 ($660,000), while Fabio Carvalho, who has been rumoured to be on his way out, earns an estimated £2 million annually ($2.5 million).
