The world is a very diverse place full of many different people with different backgrounds and different perspectives, so representation matters. Jacqueline Grace Lopez (Blaze) shared her own experience with this when she took a video of her parents watching the opening credits of General Hospital where she was featured with her new cast photo.

“Growing up in the ‘90s, I was this little Filipino Latina with big buck teeth and glasses since the third grade,” Lopez said in the clip. “I think I got contacts… maybe in junior high? I never really saw myself represented in anything. And now older, I really see how that contributed to my feeling invisible. So to get this moment, to realize that there might be some kid home from school or someone who sees someone that looks like them. If that can help them dream big, I know that would have helped me. And that means everything.”

Unfortunately, along with the narration, the only sound is the lovey tune “Bundle of Joy” by Jartisto from the film Inside Out. We don’t get to hear her parents’ reactions to seeing their daughter featured in the GH opening credits alongside the other stars of the soap. Although, after the credits finish, her father grabs the remote to rewind and watch them again!

Lopez actually first appeared on GH back in 2015 in a brief appearance as a babysitter but joined the cast properly in November 2022 as the singer Blaze (real name Alison Rogers). Although her storyline wrapped up in April 2023, the actress reprised the role in September for a new storyline that saw Alison getting romantically involved with Kristina and expanding her family with the arrival of her controlling mother, Natalia (played by All My Children alum Eva LaRue).

Outside of daytime, Lopez can be seen in episodes of East Los High and Light as a Feather, as well as the films El Camino and Jane the Novela. In 2023, she also had a recurring role playing Eva on the CBS primetime series True Lies.
