All aboard the crazy train! Fox just dropped the first promo for Season 5 of 9-1-1: Lone Star , confirming that the show’s next explosive crisis will involve a train derailment.

The 30-second video finds the heroic members of the 126 springing into action, and as Neal McDonough’s Sgt. O’Brien is quick to remind them, “This city needs you.”

It’s been more than a year since 9-1-1: Lone Star fans have gotten their weekly fix; the fourth season ended in May 2023 but was unable to resume production due to the concurrent actors’ and writers’ strikes that temporarily ground Hollywood to a halt for several months thereafter. While the 12-episode fifth season was originally expected to premiere in Spring 2024, Fox ultimately decided to delay it until fall.

As previously reported, original cast member Sierra McClain will not be returning as Grace Ryder for Season 5, though all other previous series regulars are expected to be back. That includes Rob Lowe as Owen Strand, Ronen Rubinstein as T.K. Strand, Jim Parrack as Judd Ryder, Natacha Karam as Marjan Marwani, Brian Michael Smith as Paul Strickland, Rafael Silva as Carlos Reyes, Julian Works as Mateo Chavez, Brianna Baker as Nancy Gillian and Gina Torres as Tommy Vega.

Though Fox isn’t confirming anything as of yet, rumors continue to swirl that this could be the final season for the 9-1-1 spinoff, whose parent series relocated to ABC and was renewed for Season 8 .

“Wherever the ship sails, [I’m] grateful for the family I’ve created on this show,” Silva wrote in an Instagram post last month, while Rubinstein added, “One thing I do know for certain is we will continue pouring our blood, sweat and tears into these last few episodes and deliver to you our most special season yet . I better see all of you in September.”

An exact premiere date remains TBD, but we do know that 9-1-1: Lone Star will air new episodes on Mondays at 8/7c, leading into the new Hawaii lifeguard drama Rescue: HI-Surf .
