The White House admitted President Joe Biden 's son Hunter "was in the room" as his father was preparing to deliver a prime-time address responding to the Supreme Court 's opinion on presidential immunity.

Press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre repeated this week is a "holiday week" with the Fourth of July and that he spent last weekend with his family at Camp David after his debate against former President Donald Trump . Members of his family were also planning on joining him at the White House later this week for the holiday, according to Jean-Pierre.

"Hunter came back with him and walked with him into that meeting, that prep, that speech prep, and you know, and he ended up spending time with his dad and his family that night," Jean-Pierre told reporters Tuesday. "That is basically what happened."

"What I can say is that he came back with his dad from Camp David," she said. "He walked him into the speech prep. He was in the room."

Hunter Biden was convicted last month in his federal gun crime case in Delaware before his tax crime case goes to trial in California in September.

Joe Biden has repeated that he and his son do not speak about his business interest as House Republicans investigated the family for any conflicts of interest. The president has also reiterated criticism of Trump, his predecessor and 2024 Republican opponent, for tapping his daughter Ivanka Trump and son-in-law Jared Kushner as senior advisers in his White House.

NBC News reported Tuesday that Hunter Biden has been "closely advising his father since the family gathered this past weekend at Camp David after Thursday’s debate."

"This person said Hunter Biden has 'popped into' a couple of meetings and phone calls the president has had with some of his advisers," it reported. "Another person familiar with the matter said the reaction from some senior White House staff has been, 'What the hell is happening?'"
