    Late Night host and author Amber Ruffin comes out with a pointed message to haters

    Amber Ruffin closed Pride Month with her very own coming out message.

    On June 29, The former late night host took to Instagram on the last day of Pride with a coming out post. She captioned the post: "In what will come as a shock to exactly zero people, I’m using the last day of PRIDE to come out! Be proud of who you are, little babies! I know I am! And I can’t wait to be discriminated against for a new reason!!"

    The post accompanied a carousel of photos and videos of Amber with friends at a Mets Game and amongst a crowd on the street with people wearing Pride paraphernalia and waving Palestinian flags. In the first picture that started off the carousel and the only one with Amber solo, she was smiling wearing a purple tank top that said "Queer" multiple times in different colors of the rainbow.

    Under the candid post, celebrities swarmed the comments with welcoming messages of support, encouragement and excitement. Actress and singer Cynthia Erivo wrote: "Welcome baby love!! bathrooms are to the left, refreshments to the right, grab a chair. The DJ takes requests." Actress Sophia Bush said: "Welcome home Amber!! Our team just keeps getting hotter and smarter!! Happy Pride, dear one." Comedian Loni Love said: "Congratulations Amber!!! Live your life out loud!!!!!!! Happy Pride!!"

    The 45-year-old comedian worked as a writer and cast member on Late Night with Seth Meyers for a decade. She became the first Black woman to write for a late-night network talk show. She had her own late night show on Peacock from 2021 to 2022 for three seasons, called The Amber Ruffin Show. The Nebraska native has written two best-selling books and co-wrote the book for the Broadway musical revival Some Like It Hot which won four Tonys in 2023. Recently, she wrote the revised book for the current revival of The Wiz on Broadway.

    She was married to Dutch painter Jan Schiltmeijer for 13 years before they divorced in December 2023. In a New Year Day Instagram post on 2024, she mentioned her divorce in the caption in the recap of 2023. In a June 2022 interview with TODAY , shared that she met then-husband Jan met in New York but they both were living in Amsterdam at the time. She was performing with a Dutch theater group called Boom Chicago and they were on tour in New York while Jan was there on vacation.
