    SWFD firefighters rescue entrapped driver in Walton County

    WALTON COUNTY, Fla. ( WMBB ) – On Tuesday around 5:00 a.m., South Walton Fire District responded to the Point Washington area for a single-vehicle accident with entrapment.

    When officials arrived on the scene they found a heavily damaged vehicle lying on its side. The occupant was trapped near the driver’s seat, according to authorities.

    Firefighters had to stabilize the vehicle, remove the roof, perform a dash roll to lift the dashboard away from the occupant, as well as remove the driver’s seatback.

    More than a dozen firefighters responded to the scene to provide the necessary personnel and equipment for this technical rescue.

    Crews transported the patient to a local trauma center for further care. SWFD said they appreciate the cooperation from the Walton County Sheriff’s Office and Florida Highway Patrol during this incident.
