Maltese-Shih-Tzu Mix's Unconventional Napping Spot Puts Dog Beds to Shame

No matter how hard I try, I will never be able to nap as deeply and as comfortably as my dog will — and part of that is because I will never be able to fit into small, cozy spaces as well as she does. I'm never more jealous of her as I am when she stretches out on the stairs to sleep directly in the sunlight, an experience I will, sadly, never be able to replicate. Sure, humans have beds... but for some reason, I just feel like it's not the same.

Another napping position that none of us will ever be able to replicate: The one that the sweet pup in this TikTok video has found. However, I really don't understand how it's comfortable... but sure, you do you, dog!

This metal tray has dual functions, not only can both your dogs use it as a bed it can also be used to carry and hold drinks and food 🤣 #fyp #information #bed #info #puppy #dogsoftiktok #puppydog #puppiesoftiktok #sleep #snooze #decor #following

On Sunday, June 30, @munchkinthemalshi shared this adorable video of her Maltese- Shih-Tzu mix dog, Munchkin, napping in a decorative tray. This is typically meant to hold drinks and snacks while you're enjoying a movie on the couch, but Munchkin has decided it's the perfect day to rest after a long day of being a dog.

Not only is she sound asleep, but she somehow fits perfectly. There's a big, comfy couch right there... but that doesn't matter to her, because she's got her hard, metal tray. Who could pass up a nap spot like that?

Why is she sleeping here, though? Only Munchkin knows the answer to that question, but one person in the comments had a good guess: Now that it's so hot outside, it might have just been a cold place for her to lay!

Why Do Dogs Sleep in Tight Spaces?

While the tray is definitely out of the norm, it actually is pretty normal for dogs to want to sleep in tight spaces like that, thanks to their den instincts.

As Rover points out, dogs feel safe in small and enclosed spaces, especially when they need to hide or if they feel like they really need some rest. This is why many dogs love their crates so much — they see them as their den. This gives them the feeling that predators can't get to them while they let their guards down and sleep, so who can argue with that?

This is also why many dogs like to sleep under the bed , with the additional benefit of them staying close to you, their favorite human.

Munchkin looks very comfy, so maybe we shouldn't knock her nap spot since we can't try it and find out if she's onto something. As long as she's getting her beauty sleep, nothing else matters!
