People Magazine made Costner their latest cover star and in an exclusive interview the two-time  Academy Award winner told the outlet what traits he has in common with Bobby.

"I'm like Bob," Costner tells PEOPLE in his recent cover story . He explains that he and his canine buddy share the tendency to go from extreme "passivity" in their everyday lives to full-on locked-in mode, where they fire on all cylinders.

"Bob just gets in the car. He does not care where we go. Bob's lazy; all he does is sleep. He just goes 'woof' at the door a few times. But if I put Bobby in the field, you see his IQ go up 30 points. He looks like an Adonis of dogs. He just knows exactly who he is," Costner adds.

Another funny fact about the little pup? Costner said he has an unusual sleeping spot, the dishwasher.

"I have to push him out," Costner says, noting Bobby has outgrown this favorite spot. "He's too heavy now. He wants to get in there, and he's not comfortable with me kicking him out."

When Costner was filming his later movie, Horizon , Bobby was a guest on set. Costner shared this adorable photo to Instagram.

Labradors are usually listed as one of the most popular dog breeds and there is good reason for this! The average lifespan for Labrador Retrievers is 10–12 years. These gorgeous dogs usually weigh between 50 and 90 pounds, and do require baths and brushing but not a ton of grooming!

Labrador Retrievers were originally bred to be work dogs . Their purpose was to retrieve fish or birds or whatever their owner needed them to do (hence the name). This type of work required that the breed be full of energy. Labrador Retrievers are very high-energy dogs and require a lot of exercise.

They need to be taken on long walks or jogs daily. Most labs love water and are very good swimmers. A large backyard is ideal for lab owners so that the dog will have plenty of room to run and play outdoors.

They are super smart, very loyal and affectionate with their owners, and usually get along well with kids and other pets in the family if they are exposed at an early age.
