House Democrat acknowledges her party is elitist

Democrats do not respect people who work for a living. You do not need to take it from me; that is a quote from a House Democrat.

Rep. Marie Gluesenkamp Perez (D-WA) said that Democrats “don’t respect people that work for a living.” She added that the Democratic Party’s idea of “equity” is “translating the lawyerly gobbledygook on government websites into Spanish” when it should be “being able to navigate the website with an eighth-grade reading level … and without having to hire a compliance firm.”

The glowing profile of Gluesenkamp Perez in the New York Times details many of the exact problems with the current Democratic Party. That includes its obsession with student loan amnesty (which primarily benefits the wealthy and does so at the expense of people who do not have college degrees), overzealous regulations that make things more expensive for everyday people, and the contempt that her elitist liberal college colleagues have for working-class people.

There are other examples of this. Take the Democratic Party’s constant pandering to union workers in debates, when the party’s actual concern is strengthening unions as a political organization. That includes wanting to force workers into unions so that union leaders can turn around and spend their dues on liberal political activism. The Democratic Party under President Joe Biden wants to bring California’s war on freelance workers to the rest of the country under this thought process.

Climate offers even more examples, as Democratic politicians and their elitist celebrity friends jet around on private jets while lecturing everyday people about their climate footprint. That extends into Democrats trying to ban basic things including gas stoves ( unless you’re a Democratic Party ally) or gas-powered cars, forcing normal people to take on more expensive, less reliable products while elitist Democratic politicians enjoy their private jets and beachside mansions.

Biden and the current Democratic Party answer to overeducated activists and media figures who think their collection of degrees makes them better than everyone else. It is how you end up with the Justice Department comparing parents at school board meetings complaining about gender ideology to terrorists or cities that prioritize rosy theories about “restorative justice” over locking up violent career criminals. It is nice that at least one congressional Democrat is willing to admit this, but the fact remains that this elitist view remains the majority view in today’s Democratic Party.
