Suspect in string of burglaries arrested in Manatee County

BRADENTON, Fla. (WFLA) — A Bradenton man who allegedly stole from five different business in three days in now in jail, according to deputies.

Leslie S. Guthrie, 53, has been charged with five counts of burglary, and detectives connected him to multiple break-ins along Cortez Rd. W.

The investigation started on July 26 ^th with an unknown man who robbed Judy’s restaurant, the MCSO said. Over the course and the next three days, investigators responded to continued burglaries along Cortez Road.

Deputies said, Guthrie stole a total of several hundred dollars from American Lock and Key, Pup in a Tub, Mez Comics and Games, and Judy’s Restaurant.

A task force of deputies tracked down the suspect to a plaza on Manatee Avenue and arrested him shortly after 2 a.m.

This is an ongoing investigation as Guthrie is suspected of committing other burglaries in Manatee County, and additional charges are expected.
