    Ann Wilson of Heart reveals cancer diagnosis as she cancels upcoming tour

    Singer of hit 70s band Heart, Ann Wilson , has announced she has been diagnosed with cancer .

    The 74-year-old shared the news through her Instagram on Tuesday. She posted a photo of her statement on the social media site that read: "Dear friends, I recently underwent an operation to remove something that, as it turns out, was cancerous."

    "The operation was successful & I'm feeling great but my doctors are now advising me to undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy & I've decided to do it," she continued, "And so my doctors are now instructing me to take the rest of the year away from the stage in order to fully recover."

    Ann said that she had to cancel Heart's Royal Flush tour alongside the band Cheap Trick. It was slated to begin July 30 in Cleveland and end December 15 in Las Vegas.

    "To the ticket buyers, I really do wish we could do these gigs," Ann wrote, "Please know that I absolutely plan to be back on stage in 2025. My team is getting those details sorted & we'll let you know the plan as soon as we can. Thank you all for the support. This is merely a pause. I've much more to sing. Love, Ann Wilson."

    Her statement ended with a bid for privacy as she wrote: "Respectfully, this is the last public statement I'd like to make on the matter."

    Fans flooded her comments with words of support and well wishes. "Don’t worry about us, you just take care of yourself! Sending you prayers and positive juju!" one fan wrote.

    Another commented: "I'm a little disappointed, but that means nothing to me. What means everything to me is that you're healthy. Concerts and this and that can definitely wait. Take care of yourself. We're all right behind you no matter what. Sending love and support."

    The band's official Instagram has also announced that the tour would be postponed. It read: "As of today, HEART's Royal Flush Tour is postponed due to medical reasons. Fans are encouraged to hold on to their tickets as they will be honored for the rescheduled dates. More information to be announced in the coming weeks."

    Heart is known for its ballads like Alone and What About Love, and their song Barracuda was featured as a song in Guitar Hero. Ann is one of two lead singers of the band, the other being her sister Nancy Wilson, 70.
