ALAMANCE COUNTY, N.C. (WGHP) — The Alamance County Sheriff’s Office is mourning the loss of a retired K-9 officer.

Grim, a 13-year-old Malinois-Shepherd mix, passed on Monday after a debilitating illness, the sheriff’s office says.

Grim served the ACSO from May 2012 until his retirement in 2021.

Grim’s partner and his family cared for Grim from his retirement until his passing.

Highlights of Grim’s service record include:

    • 18 persons found (missing people and suspects)
    • $1.9 million seized
    • four wanted person apprehensions
    • 150 kilos of cocaine seized
    • 65 kilos of methamphetamine seized
    • 180 grams of heroin seized
    • five kilos of marijuana seized
    • 294 guns seized

“Grim was one of the best K-9 officers we’ve ever had,” Sheriff Terry Johnson said. “He will be sorely missed by all of us.”
