    Jon Jones.

For the better part of the last 13 years, Jon Jones (27-1-1) has either been the UFC light heavyweight or heavyweight champion.

He’s riding a 19-fight unbeaten streak, has victories over several former champions including Daniel Cormier, Glover Teixeira, Rashad Evans, Lyoto Machida, Rampage Jackson and Shogun Rua, and owns the record for most title fights (16) and title defenses (11) in UFC history.

So with Jones having little left to prove, many have wondered if the 36-year-old will retire following his expected UFC 309 headliner against Stipe Miocic (20-4) at Madison Square Garden in November.

Jones recently answered that very question on X when a fan asked him what his future entailed.

Jones is already considered by many to be one of, if not the greatest fighter in UFC history, including UFC president Dana White, who recently engaged in a passionate debate about whether or not the Rochester native is the No. 1 pound-for-pound fighter in the world.

A win over Miocic, a two-time heavyweight champion who’s widely regarded as the top 265-pound fighter in company history, would go a long way toward cementing Jones’ legacy as the most dominant mixed martial artist ever.

While there are a few intriguing opponents left for Jones at heavyweight after Miocic, including interim champion Tom Aspinall (14-3), No. 3-ranked Sergei Pavlovich (18-3) and No. 4-ranked Curtis Blaydes (18-4-1), the fight fans really want to see is a bout against current light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira, who’s expressed interest in moving up to the heavyweight division in the future.

Perhaps a showdown with Pereira is the kind of “crazy” option Jones was hinting at in his tweet.
