Kemba Walker Retires after 12 NBA Seasons

Former All-Star guard Kemba Walker has called it a career from basketball. He announced his retirement after 12 NBA seasons earlier today. The 34-year-old spent his final season of professional basketball with AS Monaco in France.

“This has all been a dream,” Walker said in a heartfelt post on social media. “When I look back, I still can’t believe the things I achieved in my career.

“I know I couldn’t have made it to this point without my incredible support system around me. There are so many people to thank — my mom, dad and entire family, my teammates who have become family, and the coaches who believed in me and brought out the best in me.”

“Basketball will forever be a part of my life so this isn’t goodbye. I’m excited for what’s next.”

Kemba Walker was a premier player in the NBA in his prime with the Charlotte Hornets. Although he did not have much postseason success. He was undeniably the best player on the Hornets in the past 20 years. His final year with the Hornets was easily his peak. En route to a third-team All-NBA selection averaging 25.6 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 5.9 assists a game.

Many remember his tenure as a Celtic where he would make his fourth and final All-Star game. Unfortunately, it was in Boston where injuries would catch up to Walker. In his final few NBA seasons, he was a shell of his former self. However, in his journeyman seasons in 2022 and 23 Walker had some flashes of his prime with the Knicks and Mavericks.

Let’s not forget Kemba was a national champion and All-American at UConn in 2011, averaging 23.5 points, 5.4 rebounds and 4.5 assists during his junior year. Kemba Walker is one of the greatest UConn players ever outside of Ray Allen and Rip Hamilton .

I Hate Kemba Walker, End Of Blog

Kemba Walker is the kind of basketball player people admire. He is still beloved by basketball fans everywhere. As a somewhat undersized guard in the League of Giants, Cardiac Kemba was an absolute offensive juggernaut on his best days while being a great teammate and a great human being every day. While Kemba Walker’s career may not be Hall of Fame worthy, he leaves behind a legacy of perseverance and dedication to his craft. Kemba Walker is a name basketball fans will always remember.
