If you're someone who can't bear to get rid of childhood toys and saves everything from your early years, then this video is for you. You're not alone in your childhood hoarding; we all do it! I can't tell you how many toys I have leftover from the early 2000s, waiting for the day when I can either give them to my own children. Or maybe they'll just stay in boxes forever, who knows!

But if there was a way I could incorporate my old toys into some sort of nostalgic home decor? I would be so into it. While there may not be a lot of DIY ideas when it comes to Beanie Babies, Build-A-Bears, and American Girl Dolls, there are still a ton of creative ways to take childhood toys and turn them into home staples.

TikTok creator Jess from @jessicacarolynx spotted this mirror project on Pinterest and knew she had to make one for herself. It was just too cute!

The mirror was a standard arched shape but instead of a typical frame, it had individual Hot Wheels cars attached around the entire edge. A Hot Wheels mirror? Yes, please. Whether you have a bunch of these cars left over from your younger days or maybe you found a jackpot at the thrift store, you can turn them into funky home decor instead of leaving them to sit in boxes covered in dust. (If you've seen Toy Story, you know that's just not an option.)

The best part about this project is that it's super easy to recreate! And obviously you can add any small toys to a mirror, it doesn't have to be Hot Wheels. Polly Pockets, LEGOs, Perler Beads, there are a ton of different ways to frame a mirror. Grab a cheap or thrifted mirror, some hot glue, and you're ready to go.

How She Made This Mirror Come to Life

To sketch out the best possible color scheme, Jess sorted all of her Hot Wheels into piles by color and then arranged them around the frame till she got the aesthetic she liked. After that, it was just a matter of gluing them down!

The cars specifically look so good because you can see the undersides of each car reflected on the mirror. We're obsessed!
