If only all trends on the Internet were this wholesome!
While certain aesthetics and home trends have gone in and out of style, there's always been one remaining standard of interior design: to make your home your happy place. Whether that means going all out with the Millennial beige look or painting on bright accent walls just because, you have total freedom to decorate your own home and this trend exemplifies just that.
You might have seen the phrase 'dopamine decorating' floating around your feeds the past few weeks and if you still aren't quite sure what that phrase means, watch the video below.
There is nothing more up TikTok creator Hayleigh's ( @hayleighjmc ) alley then this new trend of 'dopamine decorating.' As someone who thrives on bright colors and playful details, Hayleigh immediately dove headfirst into her decorating process and her final results are stunning.
Similar to most Internet trends, dopamine decorating is just a fancy term for something most people already do, which is decorate their home according to their own preferences and styles. However it takes it a step further by increasing the amount of bright colors and fun patterns, or visuals that will supposedly increase your dopamine levels. In short, it's decor that makes you go, Oh, I love that!
This could mean a lot of different aesthetics for different people but mainly we're seeing a ton of colorful polka dots, accent pieces, funky shapes, and child-like color palettes.
For you, this could mean anything from painting your front door pitch black to adding a hammock in the center of your living room! Anything that boosts your happiness or brings you joy will count. It's a very general term but the idea is adorable.
For Hayleigh, this means incorporating a ton of new colors and patterns into her home, like her new fluffy checkered blankets, a realistic cat pillow, and striped cookie jars for her kitchen. And she didn't stop there! She also picked up an oversized carrot toy for her cat, a daisy-printed bath mat, and bright yellow cookware.
It's your home so you might as well make it as cozy as possible!
