    Unusually high number of LI students fail Algebra I Regents exam

    Many of Long Island’s eighth and ninth graders will likely have to take their algebra Regents exams all over again – after educators noticed an unusually high number of students scored a 64, falling just one point shy of passing the exam. Long Island education experts believe a new format, along with the conversion chart for grades implemented by the state Education Department is a big reason for the change in final scores. Tutors News 12 spoke with have noticed an uptick in requests for their services following the release of scores for the June regents. Students can re-take the exam in August. "
