MADISON, Wi. -- Nearly 71 million people are expected to travel over 50 miles for the Fourth of July, according to AAA.

TSA expects to screen over 32 million people from June 27 to July 8. According to TSA regional spokesperson Jessica Mayle, records have already been broken.

"We're looking at having days that are more than 3 million passengers being scanned across the country, which would be a new record for us," she said.

This is not new to this holiday weekend. Mayle said the past couple of months have seen an increase in travelers.

"Eight of the ten busiest days all time have been in the month of May and June of this year," Mayle said.

There is also an increase on the roads. Roughly 58 million people drove for the holiday last year, this year it's almost 61 million.

In Wisconsin, 1.4 million people are expected on the road according to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation. Peak travel times are expected between 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. July 3 and 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday July 7.
