McDonald's will launch a brand new special dipping sauce next week in partnership with the popular anime series Jujutsu Kaisen.

The fast food giant announced that it would drop the new product, called Special Grade Garlic Sauce, exclusively on its app on July 9.

The sauce is described as having "notes of garlic and soy sauce, balanced with a slightly tangy sweetness" and eight different Jujutsu Kaisen characters will appear on the packets.

It's inspired by the Black Garlic Sauce sold by McDonald's in Japan and it's only available for a limited time. However, anyone who purchases McNuggets through the McDonald's app will receive a container for free.

Customers who add the sauce to their meals will also be able to avail of a free trial of the anime platform Crunchyroll for one month, where they can watch both seasons of Jujutsu Kaisen.

Jujutsu Kaisen, known as JJK, is an animation series inspired by the Japanese manga comic of the same name by illustrator Gege Akutami.

The anime follows the story of Yuji Itadori, a high school student who becomes cursed and enters a special school to try to exorcise himself. McDonald's new sauce is described as being "fit for any sorcerer".

The company's chief financial officer Ian Borden said that its previous efforts to capitalize on anime fandom have worked well for its sales.

Earlier this year, the chain temporarily packaged some chicken nuggets ordered through its app in a special WcDonald's container , playing on how anime usually refers to the company in its illustrations.

"By featuring our Chicken McNuggets alongside a new dipping sauce, theme package, and bonus gaming content with a mobile app purchase, we created brand excitement and lifted McNuggets category sales," Borden told Fox Business.

"Our fans’ passion for the McDonald’s brand and for the WcDonald’s university quickly spread across social media in the US with over six billion impressions and nearly 100,000 mentions."
