Mock drafts are all of the rage in March and April. Fans want to know who their team may select in the upcoming NFL Draft. Way-too-early mocks are a fun scenario to do during the summer, too. For the New York Giants, the latest mock draft from ESPN's Matt Miller hands them one of the class' most exciting talents.

Miller explains how ESPN got to their draft order for this exercise. It's a unique way, but it makes sense.

Our draft order for this exercise comes from ESPN's Football Power Index , which uses thousands of simulations to predict the 2024 NFL season . In turn, that gives us a 1-32 order, starting with the Patriots at No. 1. -- Matt Miller, ESPN

Giants trade for first overall pick in 2025 NFL mock draft

We might not have a generational talent like Caleb Williams in this class, but there are some really good quarterbacks. And given that the Patriots just used a 2024 top-three pick on Drake Maye , I'd bet they would be listening on trade offers if they were to have the top pick next year. I like the idea of the Giants moving up, and the trade package could look similar to what Carolina sent to Chicago in 2023 , when the Panthers slid up to No. 1 from No. 9. I have the Giants dealing their No. 6 pick, a 2025 second-rounder, a 2026 first-rounder and a 2027 second-rounder to get this done. -- Matt Miller, ESPN

This aggressive move by New York gives them their choice of the top QB prospects. In a class where no one has emerged as a true alpha at the position, it will be interesting to see which quarterbacks are in the discussion for the top overall pick.

Giants select Georgia QB Carson Beck with first pick

The Giants threw 15 touchdown passes last season (fifth fewest in the league) and Daniel Jones is coming off a season-ending ACL injury , but the team is running it back this year. Veteran Drew Lock was added as a backup, but there still isn't a long-term answer under center on this roster. So the front office might get aggressive in finding one. Beck -- my QB1 in the class at the moment -- is a steady pocket passer with a big arm and great processing speed. And he is primed for a breakout season after throwing 24 touchdown passes and completing 72.4% of his throws in his first season as a starter in 2023. -- Matt Miller, ESPN

A new sheriff emerges in New York. Beck exploded onto the college football scene in 2023, leading Georgia to yet another impressive season. The young quarterback showed elite processing and has underrated arm talent around the country.

For my money, he will probably be the first QB off of the board in the 2025 NFL Draft, so this pick and trade make all of the sense in the world.

The Giants, if picking as early as expected in this scenario, would be finished with the Daniel Jones experiment. Accordingly, they could use a plethora of draft assets to make a jump to the first pick. It is a scenario that I could see actually playing out by the time April rolls around.

Beck is a cerebral passer that is wise beyond his years. He's often received major compliments for his calmness under pressure from his coaches and teammates. He's a QB prospect that could see quite the rise over the course of the 2024 CFB season.

If Brian Daboll and New York do not get back on track this season, this outcome would be one of the best for the long-term outlook of the roster.
