BECKLEY, WV (WVNS) – Tenants at Crestview Village Apartments are furious over the conditions of their road.

Residents of Crestview Village want their road fixed

About 4 years ago, Crestview Drive was permanently damaged due to the high volume of logging trucks doing work around the former governor’s mansion on Crestview.

At the time, West Virginia Governor Jim Justice had property in the area and had allegedly contracted this work.

The manager of Crestview Village Apartments, Jennifer Smith, along with some of the tenants allege that Justice promised to repair the road once the logging was completed, but road repairs still have yet to be started.

The road is in such bad condition that it is even doing damage to residents’ cars.

Crestview Tenant, Diana Farmer told 59News, “My husband has been having issues with the tires. They’re going low constantly. We have a brand new vehicle, and we shouldn’t be having issues with the tires already.”

US new-vehicle sales barely rose in the second quarter as buyers balked at still-high prices

This is not an isolated incident. Several residents are experiencing tire issues. One resident had to replace all four tires on their vehicle recently.

The Apartment residents are all 55 and older with the exception of a few younger handicapped tenants.

Farmer explained that road conditions aren’t just hindering their car health. “I hurt 24/7. I have osteoporosis. I have fibromyalgia. I have scoliosis. The bumps [on the road] makes me scared to death to go out and come back, because I don’t know if he’s going to accidentally hit that bump.”

The road was originally built when the apartments opened in 2011.

According to Smith, the road was perfectly fine until the logging trucks started working on the road.

Because the road is private, someone who owns property on the road will have to spend money to hire a contractor to repair the road.

Crestview Village Apartment residents have been seeking donations, while holding raffles and petitions in order to raise funds and awareness to repair the road.

Crestview Road is located right off of Harper Road.

We also reached out to the Governor’s office for their side of the story, but they were unable to comment.
