FORT SMITH, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — Hundreds of Polish military members and their families will arrive in the River Valley in the coming months.

They will be going to the Ebbing Air National Guard Base in Fort Smith to be trained on how to fly F-35s.

The base is the location for a program called Foreign Military Sales which will train pilots from various allied nations.

Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders says the program will bring in more than $450 million every year that will benefit the River Valley and the entire state.

“Unfortunately, the world is a lot less safe than it used to be. Communist China, Russia, Hamas, all of them are on the move and they all have a target on America’s back,” Sanders said.

The Polish students are scheduled to arrive in Florida at the end of September for simulator training and they will start flying the jets this December in Fort Smith.
