BECKLEY, WV (WVNS) — Raleigh County Commission approved the appointments of 15 new board members to county boards during the regular commission meeting on Tuesday, July 2, 2024.

The New River Gorge Regional Development Authority and Coalfield Expressway Board were two of the board appointments.

Raleigh County Commission president Greg Duckworth said the new board members had expressed interest in serving.

“It’s just a big step in the direction of new excitement, new people wanting to be involved,” said President Duckworth. “All of our eyes are better than any one of our eyes.”

Duckworth added that, sadly, around half of the appointments were made to boards which were left with a vacant seat when the late David Tolliver died on June 3, 2024.

Tolliver was president of the commission when he died unexpectedly.
