BELLEFONTE, Pa. (WTAJ) – Centre County’s Adult Services is looking for more funding, but the grant they are applying for may be tough to get.

The office is looking to apply for the Department of Community and Economic Development’s HOME-ARP grant . This would supply roughly $230,000 for use in homelessness prevention and mental health care.

“We have the staffing and we have the infrastructure required to run the program,” Faith Ryan, director of Adult Services, said.

The mental health angle is one that the office wants to focus on, and they already have an idea of what they want to use it for.

“It’s more about us being able to have those words and being able to help people identify within themselves, like, what’s going on and what they may need some assistance with,” Ryan said.

The grant in question is “some of the most challenging” that Ryan has ever worked with. She said it requires “a lot of entities” to be eligible for it. Still, she is confident that if the grant can be secured, the extra money will help bolster Adult Services.
