WNBA All-Star Game 2024 rosters: Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese among key takeaways

The 2024 WNBA All-Star Game rosters have been revealed Tuesday night, and rookies have been rewarded for their popularity with fans. Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark and Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese made the roster just months after being drafted.

Meanwhile, Kate Martin missed out on making Team WNBA in the initial results despite a strong showing in last month's fan polling . Team WNBA will face Team USA in the current All-Star Game format , squaring off with the stacked squad headed to the Olympics.

Clark and Martin played with one another at Iowa , making back-to-back national championship appearances, and it would have been a dream to play alongside one another at the All-Star Game. In a coincidence, their WNBA teams met on Tuesday night right after the league made All-Star voting results public.

But Martin is likely relieved at the All-Star team news, as she's only played a part-time role with the Las Vegas Aces.

"Oh my gosh, I'm embarrassed," Martin told reporters about the situation via the Review-Journal after the first round of voting put her in prime position to make the All-Star team.

"No, but it's cool. I feel very grateful for the fan support that I have. They don't have to do that, they don't have to go and vote for me. That takes extra time out of people's days, so I really appreciate it."

"But there are a lot of deserving people to get those votes, and there are a lot more deserving people who get to go to the All-Star Game," Martin emphasized. "I haven't earned anything since I've been here, so I really appreciate all my fans out there, and I love them ... but there are way more deserving people."

After the first round of All-Star voting last month, Aces star A'ja Wilson and Clark were neck-and-neck for the highest vote count. However, Wilson's amount is ultimately meaningless for the game's purposes, as she'll be on Team USA no matter what in the All-Star format.

Meanwhile, Reese is delighted to join Clark on Team WNBA to make her first All-Star Game appearance.

"It would mean everything to me to be an All-Star," Reese told reporters hours before getting official confirmation of her honor. "Coming into the league and just being mentally in a state where I'm trying to have fun ... obviously [this is] a blessing for me."
