Vigo County Fair Queen and Princess have been crowned

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)– We are just a few days away from the Vigo County Fair. Yesterday at the fairgrounds there were pageants to declare the county’s queen and princess.

11 girls participated in the princess contest, and 9 for the queen contest. Yesterday’s event came after weeks of preparations from those involved. In the end Ava Armstrong is the 2024 Vigo County Fair Princess and Maiya Lewis the 2024 County Fair Queen.

“Something that I’ve always wanted to do since I was little.” says Ava. “Just seeing fair queen and fair princesses running around the fair looking up to them. I’ve had friends who have done it and have inspired me to do it as well.”

“Wanted little girls that look like me to look up and see a familiar face and be able to see themselves through me and know that they can do something like this.” says Maiya. “Something that’s scary and be able to overcome that and be able to succeed.”

The Vigo County Fair starts on July 6th.
