KAHULUI, Hawaii (KHON2) — The suspension of electricity service disconnections for all Hawaiian Electric customers on Maui has been extended until at least Aug. 31.

Maui customers who were financially challenged by the wildfires do not have to worry about potential disconnection of their electric service. This suspension is in accordance with the extension of Governor Josh Green’s emergency proclamation.

This extends the disconnection moratorium that was previously set to end on Tuesday. Maui customers who receive threat of electrical disconnection unless payment is made during this time should consider the threat a scam.

For assistance with payment options and more call HECO at (808) 871-9777 or visit their website.
