CLAY COUNTY ( KFDX/KJTL ) — Deputies with the Clay County Sheriff’s Office are working to peacefully remove a suspect from a house after a car chase and foot chase.

Man indicted for choking young daughter

Sheriff Kirk Horton said it all started around 5 p.m. on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, over expired car tags when the suspect refused to pull over.

Horton said when he did stop, the suspect took off on foot.

Sheriff Horton said the man returned to his home in the 500 block of Riverside in Byers, and deputies are now trying to get him to come out.

Authorities have asked residents in the area to stay inside until the situation is resolved.
