A footballer who arranged large-scale deals of cocaine , ketamine and cannabis in south London has been jailed for eleven years.

Jason Pusey, 35, a former youth player for Atlético Madrid, helped to supply 107 kilos of cocaine, 235 kilos of ketamine, and 447 kilos of cannabis to south London drug gangs under the username ‘IrregularFog’.

Kingston-upon-Hull Crown Court heard how Pusey, who played as a defender for professional teams in his native Gibraltar, helped supply drugs with an estimated value of £3m.

Jurors heard how Pusey arranged the wholesale deals on the EncroChat encrypted network between March 2020 and June 2020.

He was caught when detectives investigating his handle on the network discovered passwords matched the names and dates of his family members.

The locations of the EncroChat phone also matched those of his mobile phone, and messages matched his specific travel details.

Pusey was arrested at his home address in Market Weighton, York, in June 2023 and was charged.

In July 2023, he pleaded guilty to conspiracy to supply cocaine, ketamine, and cannabis at the same court.

Met Detective Constable Duncan Askew said: “Pusey arranged large-scale drug deals while also maintaining a well-respected football career.

“On the surface he appeared as a doting family man – but he was making millions sending commercial scale amounts of controlled drugs to south London gangs.

“He did this all with no thought of the misery and devastation caused in London communities by drug supply, and the violence it leads to.”
