Santa Rosa County approved two residential development projects during June, which will add nearly 600 more homes to the county in the near future.

The projects were both approved on June 24 and planned for east Milton and Wallace respectively, which is shown in their site plans filed with Santa Rosa County.

Lennar Homes − a national homebuilding company − is the owner of both projects, according to the site plans. Lennar was also approved for another residential project in Escambia County during June.

Santa Rosa County did not approve any residential development projects during May.

Here’s what to know about the residential development projects that Santa Rosa County accepted during June.

    Horizon’s Edge

Lennar Homes was approved to develop the Horizon’s Edge subdivision project last month, which is slated to add 157 homes to Santa Rosa County using approximately 47.18 acres of undeveloped land.

The project will be developed as a public subdivision in the east Milton area off of U.S. Highway 90 and west of Penny Lane.

According to the project’s site plans, new roads called Azimuth Way, Horizon Cross Way, Horizons Edge Lane, Moonrise Way, Three Mile View Drive and Zenith Lane will be created for the subdivision.

Horizons Edge Lane will connect the subdivision to U.S. 90 once developed.

The Horizon’s Edge subdivision project was accepted by Santa Rosa County on June 24 after it was initially filed with them on March 15.

    Stonechase (Phase III and IV)

Lennar was also approved to carry out phases three and four of their Stonechase subdivision project during June.

Stonechase is an ongoing project in Wallace to create a new private subdivision off of Quintette Road whose latter phases of development were approved last month. While phases one and two of the subdivision project have already been completed, phases three and four haven’t kicked off just yet.

The project’s developers were approved on June 24 to create 83 lots using almost 44 acres of land during the project’s third phase. Additionally, one new road, Briarcliff Lane, will be created as part of this phase.

Buckthorn Circle and Laurel Creek Drive, two existing roads in the area, will extend into the subdivision’s new portion and connect phase three and four's homes to the ones built during phases one and two.

Developers applied for phase three’s approval in late May before it was accepted on June 24.

Stonechase phase four is planned to create a total of 342 lots using a little over 90 acres of land west of Dunridge Drive in Wallace.

Phase four’s plans were filed with the county since last October, but it wasn't issued a development order until June 14.
