However, this also brought up a very big question among them — What about the Harry Potter and the Cursed Child movie? There is no new New Harry Potter movie release date as there has been no official announcement yet.
In 2016, the world witnessed the continuation of the Harry Potter storyline in the form of a play written by J. K. Rowling, Jack Thorne, and John Tiffany. As the script also got published as a book, Potterheads all around the world had high hopes for it to also be made into a ninth Harry Potter film. However, there was never any confirmation about the Harry Potter franchise coming back to life until last year. In April 2023, Casey Bloys, Chairman and CEO, of HBO & Max Content confirmed that a new Harry Potter series is in the works.
The series will reportedly go on for a decade and stream on the Warner Bros. streaming service, Max (formerly HBO Max). This most likely means that we won’t get to see a new Harry Potter movie release date anytime soon as Warner Bros. will be focusing on the planned TV series.
Why the new Harry Potter Movie isn’t happening anytime soon
The new Harry Potter movie most likely isn’t coming out. This is because of the new Harry Potter TV series being in the works, which will reportedly be based on all seven books. With that planned, working on a new Harry Potter movie doesn’t seem to make sense, and will only confuse fans. After all, Potterheads sure do not want to step into a Wizarding World multiverse.
