Red Swan Episode 1 Recap & Spoilers

Popular K-drama Red Swan aired episode 1 on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at 4 p.m. KST on Disney Plus. The series follows the story of successful golfer Oh Wan-Soo (Kim Ha-Neul), who marries the rich conglomerate Hwain Group to live an elite life. After a threat to her life, she meets her bodyguard, Seo Do-Yun (Rain), who holds a secret about the conglomerate. While he makes it his mission to save her, he also uncovers the secret about the wealthy group.

Episode 1 of Red Swan documented Oh Wan-Soo’s meeting with Seo Do-Yun after the latter protected her from an attack. The episode also gave more insights into Oh Wan-Soo’s charitable foundation and relations with the Hwain Group, teasing her closeness with her bodyguard, Seo Do-Yun. Meanwhile, the latter himself entered the conglomerate to seek revenge and find the true culprits of his friend’s death.

Red Swan K-Drama episode 1 spoilers

The premiere episode 1 of Red Swan began with a glimpse of Seo Do-Yun and Oh Wan-Soo’s connection. The latter had issues with her husband and Hwain Group heir Kim Yong-Guk, which made her lonely and unhappy. The episode began with Wan-Soo claiming that she needed Do-Yun by her side.

Oh Wan-Soo’s first meeting with Seo Do-Yun

Director Oh Wan-Soo introduced her NOW Foundation at a UNICEF headquarters in New York, USA. She claimed to fight for a little girl who suffered abuse from a terrorist organization. After her speech, her assistant revealed that Wan-Soo had received a threat from the same organization. Meanwhile, Seo Do-Yun arrived in Manila.

Wan-Soo met with Crown Prince Muhammed, who was to contribute to her cause. She also introduced her husband, Kim Yong-Guk, to the Crown Prince. On the other hand, Do-Yun heard from two mafia men that assassin Mr. L was reassigned to a secret project. Mr L. was the same assassin who had killed Do-Yun’s friend, Jin-Hyuk. Do-Yun realized Mr L. had another assignment in Manila.

Do-Yun disguised himself as a cleaner and went to the mafia head’s room, where he saw the latter meet Mr. Park, an acquaintance of his. Mr. Park is also the Chief of Security at Hwain Group for Wan-Soo. Mr. Park gave the mafia man some money and headed out, leaving Do-Yun wondering about his visit. Just then, Do-Yun received a call from Mr. Park, asking him to meet.

Wan-Soo reached Manila to collect the necklace for her party back in Seoul. Given she did not have a lot of security, it was easier for the assassin to do his job. He shot a bullet towards Wan-Soo but missed it. As chaos erupted outside the shop, Do-Yun arrived just in time to rescue Wan-Soo. After they narrowly escaped, Do-Yun assured her that he was a good man and she was out of danger.

As Kim Yong-Guk looked for his wife, Do-Yun took Wan-Soo to his house for safety. Although Wan-Soo was initially scared of him, she began to feel more comfortable. Do-Yun offered to drop her off at the embassy. He wrote a witness statement and left the premises.

Do-Yun reminisces about his friendship with his late friend Jin-Hyuk

At the embassy, Yong-Guk picked up Wan-Soo, asking her to call off the party. Meanwhile, Mr. Park read the witness statement and found Do-Yun’s name as the signatory. Realizing Do-Yun was the witness, Mr. Park called him to meet earlier. Mr. Park offered Do-Yun the opportunity to work with the security team at Hwain Group, which made Do-Yun remember his friendship with Jin-Hyuk.

Do-Yun and Jin-Hyuk were the best of friends. Jin-Hyuk even donated his kidney to Do-Yun when the latter fell sick. The two graduated from the police academy together. Although Do-Yun promised to put his life on life to save Jin-Hyuk, he couldn’t fulfill the same. Before Do-Yun’s arrival, the assassin stabbed Jin-Hyuk. After realizing the assassin’s potential connection with Hwain Group, Do-Yun agreed to join Mr. Park on the job.

Oh Wan-Soo faces a threat from the Hwain Group

Upon her return to the conglomerate, Wan-Soo met with her mother-in-law and Hwain Group Chairwoman. The latter asked her to bribe the Chinese team and call off the party. However, not only did Wan-Soo refuse to bribe and organize the party, she also arranged for a press conference. Wan-Soo informed the press about the terrorist organization’s attack on her, but also her strong determination to fight for the victims and end evil.

This only infuriated the chairwoman more as she advised her trusted servant to arrange to kill Wan-Soo. By the end of the episode, Wan-Soo again crossed paths with Seo Do-Yun after he introduced himself as part of her security team and her bodyguard.
