My Wife Has No Emotion episode 1, “An Appliance Became My Wife,” begins with the introduction of the two major characters of the anime, Takuma and Mina. Takuma works late at night and narrates his lonely life. Furthermore, since he cannot afford to manage household chores, he informs the audience of an appliance he bought to handle them.

The appliance is a robot named Mina. She has an uncanny human appearance and imitates human behavior. Moreover, she cooks food for Takuma and does his dishes. A flustered Takuma jokingly expresses his desire for Mina to become his wife. Although Mina does not respond immediately, she prepares Takuma’s favorite meal with “love” written on it.

Takuma is surprised to see the decoration, but it is the following day that Mina declares Takuma her husband. She had taken Takuma’s words seriously and began functioning as his wife. Additionally, she informs Takuma that she read about the duties of a married couple on the internet.

Matters escalate when Takuma is glazed with alcohol and asks Mina to sleep by his side as his wife. Mina obliges, but the protagonist is flustered when he recalls his memories from the previous night.
