    5 New Jersey beaches under water quality advisory due to traces of fecal bacteria

    Planning on spending the Fourth of July soaking up the sun at the Jersey Shore? There are a handful of places where you won't want to go into the water. State officials issued a warning against swimming at five beaches in Ocean and Atlantic counties after water samples taken at the locations found traces of fecal matter. The five beaches with water quality advisories include:
    • Arkansas Beach in Atlantic City
    • Beachwood Beach West in Beachwood Borough
    • Stockton Beach in Long Beach Township
    • 14th St. Bay Front in Ship Bottom Borough
    • Jennifer Lane Beach in Stafford Township
    Beaches are closed if two consecutive samples collected at a bathing beach exceed the water quality standard, according to the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection’s website .
